Protecting Decency and Democracy in America

America's democracy is under attack, at least as we have known democracy. A report published by Brookings Institute (February 2025) discusses seven pillars of democracy and concludes that three of those are currently facing significant challenges. The three are protecting elections, defending the rule of law, and fighting corruption. Since this article was written, I would argue that two additional pillars are being challenged - reinforcing media space and countering disinformation.
